Textile Crafts, Sample 12

I am in my final year of University in Huddersfield where I am studying Textile Crafts. This blog will document my final months of my degree.

These are some of the designs I have been working on, looking at Rococo furniture and embellishment.

My Project! First draft of the brief.

For the final project my intention is to produce fabrics that are highly embellished pieces that consist of traditional and contemporary techniques. The samples will be based on heritage designs and styles that are to be translated into slightly more contemporary designs and layouts.

Technical file, sketchbook and visual diary, documenting thought process, design developments,

historical design research and technique development.

For this proposal I will need to consider what market it is that I am aiming my work at, I intend to create pieces of fabric that are very heavily embellished. I hope to use traditional techniques such as gold work but also combine it with contemporary techniques using the Amaya. I would like to create the samples so that are resonant of the ornamental embellishments of the Rococo and Baroque period. I am intending to use a colour palette of gold.
