Photoshoot! The final images!

For the Photoshoot we had a series of photos taken, but over all we are allowed to choose 8 for ourselves to keep. The images above are the 8 I chose though stupidly I was in a bit of a panic and picked a horrid image of myself, grrr! but the other images I chose were good. I prefer the images with the paler cool lighting as I think that this has a crisper and more professional look for the market I am aiming my work to. they are high res images so i will be able to zoom in to the details and use these on the pages in the Sample 12 Catalogue.

Annie Bascoul

Bascoul is a French artist, who was featured in the Lost in lace exhibition. Her work is inspiring I love the mix of the traditional and modern, the overall appearance of the work is traditional, you can see the direct link between lace making techniques but then seeing it on a completely different scale brings in a new aspect. I felt when viewing and experiencing her work in person like Alice in Wonderland, it was so unusual and surreal.

The artist reveals...
...the ideas behind the work

“I want this work to be rare and precious, always beautiful and poetic. For the suspended ‘bed’— Jardin de lit, lit de jardin — I’ve used materials which refer to bedding: the white down duvet, which evokes the erotic poetry of Béroalde de Verville, whose text is on the ground underneath the bed. White and gold are for me the colours of light, beauty and ambiguity”.
...the techniques used to make the work
“The traditional needlepoint lace of Alençon, which is largely inspired by the drawings of plants and gardens and flowers, appears in all of my work”.
